 Abstract Submission

The 8th China-Korea-Japan Women Leaders Forum for Science and Technology will be held on October 7th during 2017 International Conference on Advanced Fibers and Polymer Materials in Shanghai, China. With the theme of 'Women in science: cooperation and innovation', the forum will be a platform to discuss topics and exchange views on encouraging and promoting women's participation in scientific research in a world where science drives innovation and economic, social and cultural changes.

1, Sessions and Topics

Session 1: Women's Leadership

Women scientists in the 21st Century have much better prospects than their female counterparts from previous generations. Yet in spite of significant gender equality advances and better support, there are still great barriers that discourage women from entering the profession and obstacles continue to block progress for those already in the field. Women scientists still concern about work-life balance and career prospects which contribute to under-representation of women working in STEM careers. The session will focus on how to address the issue from the perspective of institutional policies, efforts and programs, etc aimed at supporting and increasing the number of women working in STEM professions hence promoting women's leadership positions in science.

Session 2: Role Model for Education

Established women scientists think working in science is an exciting and rewarding career. They can provide role models for young girls wanting to take up scientific careers. The session will be a platform for women scientists to share their journey into STEM and profile their teachers and mentors. The highlighting of the stories of women scientists can provide role models for young women in science and inspire more young girls to explore scientific career paths.

Session 3: Women and Innovation

The world needs science and science needs women. Women scientists can play an important role in R&D, especially in the 21st century when interdisciplinary scientific research and emerging science and technology are developing rapidly around the world. The session will focus on women's role in innovation in the era of accelerating innovation in science, technology and engineering.
